Genuine Terpenes is a UK seller of aromatic terpenes which are used in vaping products to give them taste and flavour. The sister site to GenuineCCELL who sell vape devices, though they share the Genuine name, Genuine Terpenes needed to be distinct in identity and stand out from the crowd with a brand, an online store to sell from and product packaging.

While working at Cloud9 Fulfilment as a Digital Marketing Creative, one of my projects was to create a modern yet future inspired brand identity and a functioning eCommerce website for Genuine Terpenes. Bottle labels were created for over 4 ranges and 80 flavours, along with inventory data and display graphs detailing the flavour profiles as well as terpene contents. Labels were created for the stored stock and marketing banners for the sister site, GenuineCCELL.

With my multi-disciplined approach to the brand design and website creation, I utilised aspects of graphic design, web design, UX/UI and marketing insights to craft a brand with an eye catching look, a functioning eCommerce online store that is streamlined for customers to learn about their flavours and buy the products as smoothly as possible. To this day, Genuine Terpenes enjoys high sales from a user friendly experience and engaging design.



Working as the main project lead, I designed the identity, created all the assets and built the site while being assisted by designers when needed. The design was influenced by my research of popular eCommerce stores having simple minimal menus and sliders, with a strong hero section that points users to the main focus of the website, the catalogue page. USPs are displayed under the hero, allowing users to see important information that would reinforce their decision in buying with Genuine Terpenes (such as fast dispatch, the strain specific blends or the all natural ingredients of the terpenes). Each page of the website would be researched for, before a rough draft of the page is designed, agreed upon by the stakeholder and then fully developed.

The product pages were designed to be just as streamlined as the rest of the website, with a focus on displaying the key information that the user would be interested in (based on competitor analysis). Flavour profiles are important in terpenes, so there was a focus on creating a graph to show users the 4 main flavour notes of the product, with a more technical breakdown of ingredients under for the more informed user.




The brand identity was created with the keywords ‘future’, ‘neon’ and ‘cyberpunk’ in mind. The logo was created from a prototype circular graph for the flavour profile. From there, the rest of the design were influenced by the same keywords for a brand style that evoked the neon themes and colours of Bladerunner.



To give the user a brief breakdown of each flavour at the catalogue page, this summary graphic was designed to summerise all the main points of a terpene that would influence the target audience in their decision to purchase. You can highlight each product with the mouse and see this before clicking onto the product page.







I created labels for over 80 flavours across the Genuine Terpenes range. Special labels were designed for the stock used to fill each product bottle, colour coded to each range as well as simplified to make them easily identifiable yet still retain the futuristic look for staff members.
